Vandalism on election day will not go unpunished - Joseph Owona

During a press briefing given on Monday, November 17, 2014 in Yaounde, Joseph Owona assured that measures will be put in place to ensure that the new president of the federation is elected under peaceful conditions on the 29th of November.

Those involved closely or from Afar in the violence that dotted the elections in decentralized League of the Cameroon Football Federation, primarily in the city of Douala have to be careful this time around.

According the Committee for Standardization of the Cameroon football Federation (Fecafoot), any acts of vandalism will not go unpunished. Joseph Owona and his peers intend to prosecute them so that they answer for their actions. "What happened in Douala is unfortunate for us. People have been brutalized. And I believe that some of these people who have been brutalized filed complaints. The Standards Committee decided to prosecute the perpetrators who seem to be identified" Said Joseph Owona, patron of standardization during a press briefing given Monday, November 17, 2014 in Yaoundé.

Adolphe Minkoa She, the supervisor of elections in the region of the Littoral which has been victim of these barbaric acts learned that the troublemakers from Douala came from Emmanuel Loga’s camp, the candidate whose list was rejected by the Electoral Commission.

Joseph Owona did not failed to warn all who intend to repeat these acts of violence in Yaoundé, during the elections to the Presidency of the Fecafoot, November 29. "I say to folks here that, Yaoundé is Yaoundé. Yaoundé is not Douala".

All measures will be taken to ensure that we have a transparent, calm and peaceful election. "What we saw in Douala is unacceptable, and I can assure you that measures will be taken to prevent same situation in Yaoundé." Warned the former Minister of National Education.
