After beating Coton Sport of Cameroon 1-0 on Saturday, Ahly Chairman Mahmoud Taher called on the players to do their best and become the first Egyptian side to win the African Confederation Cup.
A strike by Walid Soliman in the 72nd minute handed Ahly their first-ever away win against Coton Sport in Garoua, putting the African champions just one game away from the Confederation Cup final.
Ahly chairman telephoned the team's crew and congratulated them on the victory, asking them to concentrate on the second leg to reach the final for the Confederation Cup title.
"I am confident in the technical staff and players' ability to reach the tournament final," Ahly chairman was quoted as saying on the club's official website after the game.
Ahly is bidding to become the first-ever Egyptian outfit to claim Africa's second club competition title.
"I asked the players to win the Confederation Cup title to be the first Egyptian team to win it," Taher said.
The Cairo giants now take a one-goal lead home before hosting the Cameroonians in a fortnight, while the other semi-final clash sees Ivory Coast's Sewe Sport entertain Congo's Leopard.
