Alex Song has been left out of Cameroon's squad for the African Cup of Nations - much to the joy of West Ham fans.
In a surprise turn of events, Cameroon have decided to leave West Ham United midfielder Alex Song out of their squad for the 2015 African Cup of Nations in January.
Song, 27, has been in fine form since joining West Ham from Barcelona this summer, but his actions at the 2014 World Cup appear to have cost him. Song left his team mates in a mess when he elbowed Mario Mandzukic, which led to Croatia hammering Cameroon 4-0 and sending the Indomitable Lions home.
With the current ebola crisis in West Africa, Song had previously advised organisers to abandon the tournament, before deciding earlier this week that he would play for Cameroon at the competition.
Yet manager Volker Finke has left Song out, meaning he is now available to play for West Ham in January and February - and fans were understandably delighted.
In this festive time of the year, West Ham fans chalked the decision down to a 'Christmas Miracle', noting that no present they receive tomorrow could be as important as Song staying.
Here are some of the reactions from West Ham fans after Song's stay was confirmed...
