West Ham to make move for former Chelsea star in coming days

According to reports in Italy West Ham United are interested in sign Cameroon superstar Samuel Eto’o. The former Barcelona and Chelsea forward looks to be exiting Everton in this transfer window despite claims in November that he was ready to commit to the Merseyside club until 2018.

TMW have reported on claims in the Italian media that in the next coming days West Ham will be looking to hijack the deal involving Eto’o heading back to Italy where he had a successful spell with Inter Milan. Sampdoria have been working on a deal to sign the Cameroonian but the East London club want to approach the player before he commits to the Italian club.

West Ham have just lost Argentine forward Mauro Zarte to fellow Premier League side Queens Park Rangers on a six month loan spell and Eto’o could be the ideal player to fill this void. The Hammers will want to continue their good start to the season by bringing in reinforcements during this transfer window and the striker will be a good option for the squad.

Only today we reported that Sampdoria are close to a deal for Eto’o and that only the finer details of the deal need to be sorted. Sampdoria have just sold their star forward Manolo Gabbiadini to Napoli and therefore Eto’o will be seen as somebody who could come in to replace their star striker.

Eto’o also still has a place in Milan after his time playing for Inter and therefore West Ham will have some job persuading the 33 year to join them.
