The people of Limbe are still seeking answers why the newly constructed 20,000 capacity football stadium is not in the project to host one of the matches during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
The ultra modern stadium which will host the 2016 African female championship was handed over to the Cameroon government last weekend by the Chinese machinery and engineering company, headed by Eric CUI.
The Secretary General at the ministry of sports and physical education Emmanuel Wonju who represented the government observed that it was just partial handing over because other issues like electricity and Water supply are still to be resolved. He gave ENEO and CAMWATER one month to complete the installations. The SG also said the construction of parking lots, modification of its aesthetics have to meet the expectations of CAF.
However, the town of friendship and its people want the government to be clear on the position of Ngeme stadium. President Biya included the Government Delegate to the Limbe city council in the organization of the 2016 and 2019 nations’ cup committee, but on paper the stadium has not been shortlisted for the 2019 event.
