The Winners of the 2015 Mount Cameroon Race of Hope and the Bamenda Horse Race have been officially received by the inhabitants, well-wishers and local authorities in the region.
The Bui Divisional Delegate of Sports and Physical Education, Nchinda Charles, presented trophies won by athletes at the 2015 Mount Cameroon Race of Hope and the Bamenda Horse Race organised by Bamenda City Council.
Since most of the winners are from Bui Division in the North West Region of Cameroon, it was an honour for Kumbo and her localities to host the heroes and heroines of the two national event.
The winners were received by the Senior Divisional Officer for Bui, Nzeki Theophile and the Mayor of Kumbo Council, Njong Donatus Fonyuy, in two separate occasions.
The 2015 female winner of the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope, Gwaya Yvonne, from Authentic Club, Kumbo was honoured by local authorities from her division while family and friends chanted songs of happiness to the daughter of the soil.
]It is worth noting that Gwaya Yvonne took home a cash prize of FCFA 10 million and two trophies, one from the Roger Milla Foundation, an air ticket from Kenyan Airways to attend a marathon in Kenya, a scholarship of FCFA 1.5 million for St. Monica University, Buea or send a member of her family.
Godlove Gabsibuin who won the male 2015 Mount Cameroon Race of Hope was also honoured alongside other winners like Nkangebi Confidence, Wirngo Kpunfanla and Ngalim Lizette, who took the second, third and fourth positions.
Nzeki Theophile welcomed the athletes back home and said he was proud of their performance. Mayor Njong Donatus Fonyuy called on the athletes to take their studies and sports activities serious, both authorities ensured the entertainment of the victorious athletes.
