The 6th edition of the football tournament dubbed, Yaounde III Communal Cup is currently taking place at the playground of the Higher School of Post and Telecommunications.
The competition which takes place in two phases; championship and Cup, began on July 20th and will end on September 1st with the cup final. Franco's club beat Hustle 5-3 in the championship final on Wednesday to emerge champion while the cup phase of the competition is at the quarter final level.
Of the twelve teams which went into the competition, only eight are remaining namely, Salam FC, Liberty Pro, FC Physique, Neptune, Post FC, Calcio Ecole de Poste, Franko and Hustle. Semifinal matches take place on August 27th and 29th while the final takes place on September 1st, to be presided over by the Mayor of Yaounde III council, Otele Manda Etienne Marcel. It is worthy to mention that the council also runs a football club and academy known as Caysa which is engaged in civilian competitions. According to the organizing secretary, Mbeng Bruno, the objective of the tournament is to keep children busy the holiday period and detect young talents for eventual inclusion into the Caysa football club.
