Yaoundé Stadium closed for renovation works

According to the Director of works, Désiré Ateba athletes will no longer have access to the stadium, as it will undergo maintenance in preparation for the AFCON 2016 and 2019 to be held in Cameroon.

In this context, the interdepartmental delegation (Mintp, Minsep, Labogénie) and the members of the Organizing Committee of the AFCON 2016 and 2019 paid a visit to the area to see how work is being carried out.

On their notepads, visitors recorded their diagnosis, the requirements of the African Confederation of football as well as proposed amendments.

The closure of the stadium will have consequences on the organization of the National Football Championship. Yaounde matches, according to the professional League of football in Cameroon will be relocated to Mfou and Mbalmayo.

At the beginning of the season, the SG of the League undertook a tour to inspect the stadiums that could accommodate the various competitions.
