Yaounde, the Cameroonian capital will host, from 17 to December 22, the 4th edition of the National Games (dixiades) where over 2000 local athletes are expected from the sub-region.
Unlike past editions where the participation age limit was set at 23 years, the 2014 edition has no age limitation to avoid that the athletes changing their ages or falsifying their identification to participate.
"We wanted to bring together the best Cameroonian athletes and those of the sub-region, we don't want discrimination, everything will depend on each coach, said the Chairman of the National Olympic and sports Committee of Cameroon (CNOSC), Hamad Kalkaba Malboum.
Instead of 28 disciplines as was the case for the Olympics, the athletes from ten regions of Cameroon and the countries of the sub-region will compete in 12 disciplines, including: Athletics, basketball, boxing, cycling, football, judo, gymnastics, weightlifting, handball, wrestling, table tennis and volleyball.
