Cameroonians have resumed work this Monday 6th April after the Easter celebration witnessed nation wide.
Yesterday 5th April 2015, the common message in churches, cathedrals was “Christ has risen”. Christians assembled to celebrate Jesus Christ’s triumph over death and especially the fact that he gave his life for the sins of mandkind.
The Easter Day celebration was similar in most churches across the national territory.
One particularity of the celebration within the Baptist church is the sunrise program where Christians marched from a defined location to their specific churches for celebration. With the aid of drums and other musical instruments and with songs, shouts of joy and acclamation, they celebrated Christ‘s victory over death as they march along.
Within the Catholic Church, the high points of the Easter celebration are the burning of arches the lighting of candles and the distribution of ‘holy water’ to the Christian Faithful.
Other denominations graced the Easter Day celebration with the sacraments of the Holy Communion, Baptism and confirmation.Such was the case in the Presbyterian Church Bastos.
The general message from Spiritual leaders was centered on the significance of the resurrection of Christ to Christians drawn from a biblical verse which holds that “without the resurrection of Christ the Christian Faith is futile.”
