Mamfe Diocese - Mgr Nkea Ordained As Co-Adjutor Bishop

Papal Nuncio charged Bishop Nkea to preach to, develop and render Mamfe more beautiful.

Appointed by Pope Francis I on July 10, 2013, Mgr. Andrew Fuanya Nkea officially joined the college of Bishops on August 23, 2013 as the Co-Adjutor, Bishop of Mamfe diocese. The Papal Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, Pierro Pioppo officiated the Pontifical Mass during which Mgr. Andrew Nkea was ordained with a charge to free people from sins.

Some 22 Bishops were around and the event in Mamfe was summed up in Mgr. Andrew Nkea's anointment with oil of mystical anointing. He was served the gospel to preach the Word of God; a ring as seal of fidelity; a Miter and a pastoral staff to keep watch over the flock as well as a kiss of peace from the Pope's representative.

Bishop Andrew Nkea was ordained to make the Mamfe diocese more beautiful for God. It was against this backdrop that the Chief celebrant, Archbishop Pierro Pioppo said Bishop Andrew Nkea is a gift of the eternal High priest and good shepherd to the diocese of Mamfe and the church in Cameroon. He charged him to preach the gospel to all, encourage and reconcile God's people, help them find salvation and avoid any shameful behaviour. In response, Bishop Andrew Nkea acknowledged the challenge and responsibility to rise to expectation as the first of Cameroon's Bishop's appointed by Pope Francis.

It was also a moment to salute the achievements of the young and dynamic diocese with Bishop Francis Leke Lysinge at the helm. The latter takes credit for building the diocese from scratch into a beautiful place with an imposing cathedral to show, a minor seminary, 31 parishes and quasi parishes, up from barely six parishes, seven priests and a handful of Christians on reception. They now count their blessings with 43 priests, 50 seminarians and committed religious and committed Christians.

Around with the blessings of the administration were, North West Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique, Senators, elite, friends and family members.
