Preparations for the pilgrimage to Mecca or Hadj 2016 have begun in the country. The 29th session of the National Hajj Commission held in Yaounde on Monday July 18, 2016. The meeting took place one month ahead of the departure of some Muslim compatriots to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the Hadj 2016.
Speaking at the opening, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, René Emmanuel Sadi called on participants to make constructive contributions and suggestions in order to ensure a successful trip.
Monday's meeting was to enable participants give an update of the level of preparations for the trip that in a bid to ensure that all the necessary measures have been taken for optimal organisation of the religious event and that the pilgrims will travel to Mecca in serenity, security and on time.
Participants also examined salient issues such as air transport, vaccination, activities of the One Stop Shop and the acquisition of an ambulance, among others.
Already, diverse operations have been made under the supervision of the National Hadj Commission notably lodging facilities in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, reservation of tents in Mina and Arafat, feeding arrangements in Mouassassa, camping for Cameroonian pilgrims still in Mina and Arafat as well as transportation facilities, among others.
