National Episcopal conference: Bishops called on greater family protection

The General Assembly of the Bishops of Cameroon is underway in Yaounde on the theme, ''The Family''. On meeting which began yesterday group’s catholic spiritual leader’s nation wide.

On this 40th session, the Bishops are debating on the Catholic Church and the family, reasons why the Minister of Women's Empowerment and the Family Marie-Therese Abena ONDOUA attended the opening ceremony.

The President of the conference Joseph Kleda on the occasion called on Cameroonian bishops to promote the family institution based on Roman Catholic doctrine.

The conference also called on government to put family issues at the centre of their preoccupation, calling on policy makers to adopt laws that reinforce the strength of the family.

The Bishops condemned the frequent theft of children in the country. They caution security officials to boost security measures. The conference ends on Friday 17th April 2015.
