The Right Rev. Fonki Samuel, Moderator of the PCC made the call at the PC Ntanfoang on Sunday, December 6 while presiding over a service to induct the “Man of God” to lead the church in Bali presbytery.
“We expect you to be more proactive and dynamic in carrying out the administrative duties and spiritual responsibility over God’s people in this presbytery and Parish…as a seasoned pastor he will do a lot to bring glory to God’s name and as somebody who has been an administrator in other parts of the church we expect you to bring in new innovations that will continue to grow the church in Bali Presbytery and Ntanfoang parish,” he enjoined him.
The Moderator also admonished him to work by faith and not by sight. In his sermon on the theme “for we live by faith and not by sight” the Right Rev. Fonki Samuel called on the Christians in Bali to put their faith in God in everything they do rather than on human power and sight.
Citing the examples of the Synod Clerk-Rev. Babila George Forchang and Oprah Winfrey, Rev. Fonki said they were able to surmount visible difficulties that the world thought would halt them simply because of their faith.
He described the PC Ntanfoang as a beacon of the church from where the PCC got its independence from the Basel Mission 1958 and called on both the Christians and the new Presbytery Secretary to work towards building a stronger and united church in Bali.
The Rev. Achuranjoh Philip Newnoh speaking after the service promised to unite the church and called on his flock to shun hatred. “The first thing I will love to do in the presbytery is to bring the Christian together under the umbrella of love, in unity, and that all of us should work as a team knowing that we have an account to render to God Almighty. So indeed, if all of us are united, if all of us come together, we speak the same language, we love one another and shun hatred away, I think that would reflect the type of Christians that we are, because if we are divided, we cannot do anything for God,” he said.
The presbytery chairman-Tafrey Patrick strongly believes that the induction of the Rev.Achuranjoh has given him the authority to carry the church in Bali to higher heights and that he had earlier laid the ground work for a better church. He called on the Christians in Bali not to be a stumbling block on the way for the spread of the Gospel. “The Lord Almighty has blessed this presbytery with uncountable good things, so let our bad behavior not invoke God’s anger,” he warned.
Elder Tafrey Patrick also used the opportunity to appeal for the Moderator to upgrade the Presbyterian Health Centre Njenka to a practising hospital for the Cameroon Christian University Bali.
His Royal Highness the Fon of Bali, Ganyonga III through a messenger warned the Christians of PC Ntanfoang to desist from in-house fighting and that he will not tolerate anyone who tries to desecrate God’s House. He thanked the PCC for the numerous developments that it has brought to Bali and pledged his total support to the church.
The PC Ntanfoang was plunged into crisis after the pioneer Presbytery Secretary, the Rev. Titatang Kingsley was transferred to the Bui Presbytery some six months ago, with sections of the church resisting the transfer, blaming some members of the congregation of writing petitioned against him because he stood on their path to embezzling church money.
Earlier on Saturday, the former mayor of Bali-Dinga Raymond Gwanyalla had handed over to the Rev. Achuranjoh, a brand new Mitsubishi Montero Jeep, announcing the dawn of a new chapter in Bali presbytery.
